One of my major hobbies is family history otherwise known as genealogy. My grandmother on my father's side actually got me interested in it. Another example of a journey, this has been an interesting one, especially when you find out that the relative that had all these medals from the civil war was all bogus. A cousin of my father's was checking out civil war pensions and found out this great great grandfather deserted his first wife in Pennsylvania and ended up marrying a woman from New York, leaving her and all the children destitute. What an eye opener that was.
I have been able to go back to 1639 when the first relative arrived in Boston Harbor to the coat of arms of a French Hugenot who arrived in New Jersey with Carteret in 1664. The last relative to arrive to the country was on my mother's side when the Welsh side set sail in 1853. A descendent of a Revolutionary War soldier, relatives that shocked the family, and the mother of two wonderful boys, my journey has not ended.
